The past week I have just been working on creating my own wall texture in photoshop and then projecting it on walls in maya. The final render of the test scene is posted below. Apart from that I started modeling the museum scene which I'd like to texture for this class. Just posting the render image of the model too.

  1. Nice job on the texture tile. The lighting is washed out - too bright. Try turning down the intensity of the main light in the Attribute editor.

  2. About the model, you might find using a real-life source to be very helpful. You don't realize how detailed architecture really is until you actually build something yourself! I suggest you find a photo of an interior close to the one you want to build as possible, and use that as a starting point for your building model. Build one arch at a time, them duplicate it and attach it to the last arch.

  3. i like the color scheme on the brick texture, it will look great with subtler lighting.

  4. when the rendering is done that scene will have great composition! Nice set up for the environment. You should check out Greek Architecture also. Like columns and stuff

  5. I think the modeling looks really great so far. It's hard to tell from the image, but it seems like the columns could be a little thicker. It might give it a more colossal feel.

  6. It looks like you are using something other than a directional light. I can see two light sources from the shadows. The dome on the top looks paper thin, give it some thickness. I really like the reference photos, this can turn out to be a nice piece.

  7. Good start, dude. I agree with Karly about the columns; right now they look too thin, like toothpicks. No worries, though, that's pretty easy to fix.
